“… the open sky sits upon our senses like a sapphire crown …”
~ John Keats
The photo of these clouds shows a bright and sunny world which does not show a hint of the storm that is below. Flying into Singapore about two weeks ago we had to go through quite a storm. The clouds grew gloomy, and rain hit the sides if the plane. A flash of lightning pierced the clouds and then the plane started to shake as we began our descent. Just as the wheels if the plane were about to touch, the plane plane jolted, accelerated and aborted the landing. Yes, it was slightly disconcerting. I have never been in a plane where the landing was aborted so suddenly but it added to adventure and excitement of the trip. After circling for a further 45 minutes waiting for the storm to pass we landed safely at Singapore airport.
Another overcast day in Brisbane. The autumn weather has started and after a long, hot summer the cooler weather is finally here. This photograph was taken by of the side of the State Library of Queensland. I love the way the building’s design incorporates the pants on the exterior of the building. It is a beautiful contrast of architecture and nature.
Queensland is now on a cyclone watch, again. We have endured some very intense weather already this year. Many people have been affected by cyclone Oswald and the floods that followed. I know there is not much that we can do about the weather other than to pray. We have endured a great deal and that endurance creates character in us and we become better people. This gives us hope and we should hold onto that. Someday soon the sunshine will come again.
